The rules of using portable computers

  1. Portable computers may be used to process personal data only in justified cases, after obtaining the consent of the supervisor.
  2. Access to the computer must be secured with a password.
  3. The person using a portable computer is obliged to secure the hardware from access of unauthorised persons. 
  4. In the event when personal data is processed through remote access to the IT system functioning at WPUT, the password for access to the remote system must not be permanently stored in the computer system.
  5. The files containing personal data shall not be stored on a local drive or portable data storage devices.
  6. In exceptional and justified cases, personal data files may be stored on a local drive or other storage devices with prior approval of your supervisor. The data storage device must be encrypted with the use of software tools made available by the University IT Centre.
